How to renew your TIE card in Spain
For around 8-10 months, we tried to find out the exact way to renew the TIE card Spain.
However, we have only received conflicting information.
Contradictions.
Maybe this way.
Maybe that way.
Remember Brexit?
Gossip everywhere.
It will be this way.
It will be that way.
Conflicting information everywhere.
Then… one day…
The Withdrawal Agreement process was officially announced.
Therefore, based on our experience dealing with thousands of EU and non-EU since 2010, we believed it could be done in two possible ways.
The 2 scenarios to renew your TIE card Spain
Here are the two scenarios we were expecting (either one):
Scenario 1 (two parts)
Part 1: TIE renewal (fingerprint). Only renewing the TIE card.
Part 2: Collecting your new TIE card.
Scenario 2 (three parts)
Part 1: Online application, similar to the Withdrawal Agreement application we went through in 2020, to confirm the permanent status, in which we will have to show them bank statements, health coverage, padron.
Part 2: Once the application is approved, the second part would be the TIE renewal (fingerprint).
Part 3: Collecting your new TIE card.
But…
It has been clarified already (July 2025).
It will only be scenario 1.
Therefore:
Scenario 1 (two parts)
Part 1: TIE renewal (fingerprint). Only renewing the TIE card.
Part 2: Collecting your new TIE card.
